Hello 4th and 5th Grade Families,
Each year Hugo Reid has offered 4th and 5th grade students the opportunity to participate in a musical theater production. Last year, we offered this opportunity in a virtual setting. This year, we are excited to announce that we will be resuming this fun and educational tradition in person!
Requirements:
- Must be a Hugo Reid student in 4th or 5th grade
- Students must be available to attend all rehearsals. Rehearsals will be held at school starting in January on Monday and Friday mornings from 7:00-8:00 am, and Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, concluding with a performance the week before spring break. To comply with current guidelines, all students must be masked when rehearsing indoors. We will explore performance options (outdoors, in the MPR, at an outside venue, etc.) as it gets closer to March.
- Parents will be asked to sign up for shifts to help “proctor” these rehearsals.
- Students and their parents/guardians must be willing to commit to time outside of rehearsals to learning lines, sourcing or creating simple costumes, creating backdrops, recording performances, etc.
- A $65 non-refundable Musical Theater Fee will be collected. We may ask for an additional fee should we need to rent an outside venue.
There will be a mandatory informational meeting on Thursday, December 16th at 7:00 pm in the MPR. Please be on time. We anticipate accepting approximately 40 students for the production.
